Choir Ministry

The Music Ministry at St. Andrew is a joyful, spirit-filled organization comprised of eight choirs whose membership includes approximately 200 parishioners ages 4-94: The Principal Choir, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, Young People's Choir and orchestra, Bel Canto Choir, Treble Choir, Lifeteen Choir, and Bell Choir. Each choir rehearses on a regular basis, in order to strengthen their skills as musicians, and in order to learn to communicate eloquently the spiritual significance of the music set before them. Many of the choirs are not merely musical groups but small Christian communities of support and encouragement and help in times of trouble. The Principal Choir supports a family in Haiti, sings at area prisons, performs an annual "Madrigal Dinner" and each year produces a "Passion Play". The choir also tours internationally approximately every 3 years, having sung for Pope John Paul II on the occasion of his 20th anniversary. The Principal Choir has also toured Washington, DC, France, Ireland, Greece, Italy, and Germany/Austria (2010). Membership in all the choirs is open to all! Phone the parish for more information (860) 537-2355.

The music ministry of a church is important for the entire congregation. For those who don't know Christ, it sets the mood for them to hear the gospel and receive the gift of salvation. For those who are new to the faith, it should be exciting enough to awaken them to hear the Word of God for inspiration, strength and challenge. For the more mature, it sets the mood for praise and worship of the Lord.

Well chosen and carefully prepared music adds to the beauty of the service and sets the hearts of the people, leading them closer to their Lord. It transports the believer into the worship of God and sets the heart of the unbeliever to receive Jesus Christ.
